Q-AIR project: leading European innovations for glass façades
Q-Air is a unique single skin glass façade that offers all the performance and benefits of an active double skin façade. A premium unitized glass curtain wall system, Q-Air uses an innovative, multi-chamber insulating core, which delivers exceptional energy efficiency, living and working comfort, aesthetics and economic benefits.
Q-Air represents one of the leading European innovations, which is underlined by being selected and supported by Horizon 2020 programme (GA No. 737757), a Fast Track to Innovation Pilot (FTIP) scheme. An innovation project Q-Air: Sustainable Prefabricated Glass Façade with Performance Exceeding State-of-the-art Glass Façades of five consortium partners Trimo, Kohlbecker Gesamtplan, ZAG, Cantori and Skandinaviska Glassystem is dealing with the innovative sustainable glass facade Q-Air and its broad positive impacts across architecture, building industry, environment and society.
More information about the Q-Air Transparent, Opaque and Combination Unit prototypes are available in the Façade category of the database.
tSENSE & eSENSE: instruments controls for indoor building monitoring
tSENSE is an advanced and versatile 3-in-1 transmitter designed for installation in the air-conditioned zone. It measures CO2 concentration, temperature and humidity in the ambient air accurately without need for additional compensation ─ true read
eSENSE is a CO2 transmitter for climate control and fits directly on top of EU electrical junction box standards. The units are available both with and without display for fixed installation in the climate zone. The transmitter helps you to save money by decreasing your energy consumption while creating a healthier indoor air climate.
tSENSE and eSENSE are products of PSIDAC AB, a Swedish company which produces instruments controls and monitors pressure, flow and other parameters for indoor building monitoring. Detailed information about the IAQ, Temperature and Humidity sensors from PSIDAC AB are available in the database.
Q CELLS Anti LID Technology eliminates light induced degradation
Q CELLS Monocrystalline modules has advantages which they make them competitive on the market. The Q CELLS Anti LID Technology eliminates light induced degradation (LID), which can greatly reduce system performance, almost completely. Other conventional monocrystalline solar cells will lose much of their initial performance, once exposed to sunlight. With Q.PEAK DUO-G5, Q.PEAK-G4.1 (2705/285, 300/310, 315/330) from Q CELLS this is not the case, thanks to Anti LID Technology.
A detailed information for these monocrystalline modules with innovative German technology are available in the PV modules category of the database.
ExcEED briefing on EU data protection reform
From the 25th of May 2018, the most important change in European data privacy regulation, in two decades, comes into force.
The EU General Data Protection Regulation aims to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches. Although the key principles of data privacy still hold true, data collectors will have to abide by new rules such as: clear consent requests, timely breach notifications, the right to be forgotten, privacy by design, to just name a few.
EffiBUILDING, together with other projects and initiatives dealing with data on the energy performance of buildings, must implement these new rules. The most important changes are highlighted in the briefing launched by our sister project Exceed and available here.
EffiBUILDING has established a cooperation with EXCEED Project
Due to the common vision and mission, a strong cooperation with the EXCEED Project has been established.
The ExcEED project (which stands for European Energy Efficient building district Database: from data to information to knowledge) aims to create a European database for measured and qualitative data on beyond the state-of-the-art buildings and districts. Key performance indicators (KPIs) will be developed to quantify and benchmark the energy efficiency and the environmental quality at building and district level.
News about EffiBUILDING have been periodically published in the Exceed website. EffiBUILDING community will be updated on the development of the Exceed project.
€57.5 million available to include renewable energy in buildings system

More information on the call for proposal are available in the INEA website.
A growing year for the EffiBUILDING Community
2017 has been an important year for EffiBUILDING, the most innovative sharing platform for the energy efficiency solutions of buildings.
We have reached more than 100 prototypes available for consultation in our database related to the four macro categories windows, façade, photovoltaic modules and sensors. These prototypes represent the future of the technologies and innovations in the energy efficiency of buildings: an article on this important achievement has been also published in the European portal for the Energy Efficiency in buildings BUILD UP.
Furthermore, we have reached more than 50 active members from all over the world, who has registered in the database and share their products and prototypes as well as providing feedback for the product development and the future steps for the database.
These results have been possible thanks to the active members as well as for our cooperation with ECTP (European Construction Technology Platform), which provide an excellent work of scouting and promotion of the most interesting prototypes from FP7 and H2020 European projects.
Finally, we would like to wish merry Christmas and happy new year to our community.
